Most security failures are not exotic. They are a default setting nobody changed, a patch nobody applied, or an alert nobody saw. Technology is only as secure as its configuration, and plenty of organisations run Microsoft 365 exactly as it came out of the box.

We build on Microsoft 365 Business Premium — multi-factor authentication, advanced threat protection and data loss prevention are built in, so there is no fragmented stack of third-party tools to maintain. We configure it to Microsoft's recommended security baselines rather than leaving it at defaults.

Our approach aligns with the Australian Signals Directorate's Essential Eight: patch management, restricting administrative privileges, multi-factor authentication, daily backups, application control, and operating system and application hardening.

Alerts land with our service desk rather than in an inbox nobody reads. A suspicious login from an unexpected country is triaged, investigated against the audit logs, and acted on — credentials reset, access restricted, the source blocked — and then fed back into the configuration so it is less likely to happen again.

Technology alone will not get you there. Human behaviour is the most reliably exploited part of any system, so user awareness is part of the work rather than an afterthought.
